GO TRI Local Triathlon and Duathlon

On the first Wednesday of each month all year round we run our GO TRI events. GO TRI is an entry level non-competitive event, aimed at beginners to try out a triathlon (swim, bike run) or duathlon (run, bike run). We encourage families to take part together, the lower age limit is 8 years old (all 8yr old participants must be accompanied by an adult for the swim segment only).

From May – September you can do triathlon or duathlon. From October – March you can do duathlon.

All entries must pre-book on the GO TRI website, link can be found HERE.

On the night we will open registration at 6.00pm with the event starting at 6.30pm. During the winter, there will be floodlights on the course. We will still require you to have bike lights on your bike and a headtorch (for the run only).

A new addition from October 2021… there will be 2 start waves for each event. Just let us know at registration when you arrive what wave you want to be in. You will have the choice of the following:

  • Full distance course which will be timed.
  • Flexi-distance course where you don’t need to do the full swim or full bike or a the full run distance, this will be timed for individual reference only.

Entries for each event will close on the Tuesday before the event at midday. There will be limited entries on the night, we cannot guarantee a start place for on the night entries.

The Courses

All starting at the Race Rapid cabins next to the lake. Triathletes will be told to make their way to the start line in the lake. Duathletes will be told to line up on the start line near the cabins.

Duathlon* – 1200m run, 7.5km bike, 1200m run (1 lap, 5 laps, 1 lap)

Triathlon* – 200m swim, 7.5km bike, 1200m run (1 lap, 5 laps, 1 lap)

*course distances changed as of October 2021

Flexi-distance course can do up to these distances. For the swim course, you can cut the course at anytime and swim back inside the swim triangle, or you can have your own start line and swim directly back to the ramp, just let us know your plan at registration. For the bike course you can reduce the number of laps, but must not turn around on the bike course. You can turn around on the run course anywhere and return to the transition area/finish line.
